Integration · RingCentral

The plant texts you when it goes quiet, and answers when you call.

Connect your own RingCentral account and Extrusia can do two things with it: text the right person the moment a bench with work waiting stops scanning, and answer a phone number your staff can call to ask Josie, the assistant built into Extrusia, about orders, schedules and the floor.

Text alerts from the floor

A bench that has gone quiet

If a work center with jobs waiting has scanned nothing for as long as you set, during your working hours on a day the plant works, the people you choose get a text. Another text says when it is moving again.

A machine connection that has stopped

If the shop-floor agent beside a saw or printer has work waiting that nothing is collecting, that is a text too, at any hour, before the labels are missed.

Once, not every five minutes

One text when a problem starts and one when it ends. A bench that simply ran out of work, or a shift that ended, closes quietly.

Call Josie

Staff ring a number on your RingCentral system and talk to Josie the way they would type to her: what is late, what shipped yesterday, where an order is. She answers out loud, from the live system.

  • Known callers only. A cell phone has to be on the workspace's list and tied to a person's login. Anyone else is told so and the call ends.
  • Desk phones sign in. A shared desk phone names a desk, not a person, so the caller gives a phone ID and a PIN they set themselves. Wrong PINs lock the PIN, not the phone.
  • Nothing changes on a caller ID. When a caller asks Josie to do something, she texts a six-digit code to their own phone, and the change runs only when they read it back.
  • Speech on our own servers. The voice is understood and spoken on Extrusia's own servers by default, with no per-minute speech fees.

Texting done by the rules

Business texting in the US is registered with the carriers, and a number that breaks the rules gets blocked. Extrusia only texts numbers a person added with the date the recipient agreed, sends the confirmation the registration promises, honors STOP and HELP, never puts a link in a text, and keeps every message sent and received.

RingCentral integration — common questions

Whose phone numbers send the texts?

Yours. Texts go out from a number on your own RingCentral account, through an app you register with RingCentral.

Can a customer text or call in?

Not to Josie. Calling Josie is for your own staff, each tied to their own login, and the alerts go only to people your team added with their agreement.

What can Josie do on a call?

Answer questions from the live system, and prepare changes like sending an email or moving a date, which run only after the caller reads back the code texted to their own phone.
