Included in Extrusia · Glass Optimization

Glass optimization for window plants, from the order to the sealed-unit sticker.

Glass is where a window plant's paperwork most often disagrees with itself: the quote says one thing, the optimizer file another, the stickers a third. In Extrusia they are all read from the same order, so they cannot drift — and nobody has to remember to send the file.

What it does

Sheet nesting

Lites nested onto your stock sheet sizes with kerf, rotation and multi-sheet spill, reporting the yield of every sheet — for plants that cut from their own plan.

Files to your optimizer, automatically

Already run a dedicated glass optimizer? Releasing a production cart writes its order file into the optimizer's folder in the format it reads, named by the cart number the floor uses — the operator still chooses which batches to combine.

Never a tempered lite on the table

Tempered and obscure units are recognized from the configuration and ordered from your IG supplier, never sent to the cutting table — even if a batch is sent again later.

One label per sealed unit

Each IG gets its own sticker naming which unit of the window it is ("lite 2 of 2"), with grids, cart and paint printed on it, rolling off top to bottom in the order the glazier needs them.

Every unit scanned

Each sealed-unit sticker is its own scan at the glass bench, so a window is only "through glass" when every unit it needs has been made — not when the first one was.

Remakes and recuts

A broken unit scanned at any bench goes into the recut pool for the glass table, scoped to exactly the unit on the sticker; a bought unit is reordered, not recut.

How glass flows through Extrusia

The order decides the glass

The configuration fixes the glass package, grids and any tempering. A lite too big for annealed glass is tempered automatically — on the price and on the glass order, so the two never disagree. See our guide to tempered glass rules.

Release writes the files

When a production cart is released, Extrusia writes the optimizer order file and, where the plant wants them, the glass assembly list and glass label report PDFs into the plant's own folders — dated by the day the cart reaches the glass line.

Bought units go to the supplier

Units the plant doesn't cut — tempered, obscure, special makeups — are raised as a requisition and purchase order to your IG supplier, with the window's size and grid on every line.

The bench works in schedule order

The glass bench screen lists carts in the same order as the plant wallboard, finds a batch by the cart number on its sheet, and shows whether each file is waiting, at the optimizer or failed.

Labels, scans and the rack

Sealed-unit stickers print at the bench, each unit is scanned as it is made, and finished units are tracked into glass rack slots until assembly calls for them.

Works with the optimizer you already own

Many plants already run a dedicated glass optimizer and a cutting table and have no wish to replace them. Extrusia writes the optimizer's own order format into the folder it reads, so the operator's routine does not change — the file simply arrives on its own, and only the plant's own cut glass is in it. Device files are delivered through the small Extrusia agent on the glass PC, so the optimizer never needs an internet connection. See Machine Connect.

Glass — common questions

Do we have to replace our glass optimizer?

No. Extrusia can write order files for the optimizer you already run, or nest lites itself if you cut from its plan.

How are IG units labeled?

One sticker per sealed unit, not per pane. Each names the window and which of its units it is, so each one is scanned separately and a window is only complete at glass when all of its units are.

What about tempered glass?

Tempered units are identified from the configuration (including lites tempered automatically for size) and bought from your IG supplier. They are kept out of the files sent to the cutting table.
